Guillain-BarrÉ Syndrome After Immunization in Canadian Children (1996-2012).

چکیده
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) cases admitted to Canadian pediatric tertiary care centers were ascertained through active surveillance. From 1996 to 2012, 246 cases were identified, and 24 (10%) had onset ≤30 days after immunization. Annual rate of postimmunization GBS was 2.0 per 100,000 hospitalizations. Postimmunization GBS was an infrequent cause of pediatric hospitalization.

Risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome after seasonal influenza vaccination and influenza health-care encounters: a self-controlled study.
BACKGROUND The possible risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome from influenza vaccines remains a potential obstacle to achieving high vaccination coverage. However, influenza infection might also be associated with Guillain-Barré syndrome. We aimed to assess the risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome after seasonal influenza vaccination and after influenza-coded health-care encounters. METHODS We used the ...

guillain-Barré syndrome (gBS) are monophasic inflammatory diseases of the central and peripheral nervous systems, respectively. Both adem and gBS are immune-mediated neurological complications mostly associated with recent infection or vaccination.1,2 according to the theory of molecular mimicry, microbial antigens can induce aberrant cross-reactive immune responses and putative targets are spe...
متن کاملGuillain-Barré syndrome following hepatitis B vaccination.
A 52-year-old woman developed Guillain-Barré syndrome 10 weeks after immunization with recombinant hepatitis B vaccine. Common infectious causes of GBS were ruled out. The temporal relationship between GBS and hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination was suggestive of a vaccine-induced cause. The possible mechanisms of this very, rare complication are discussed.
متن کاملOccurrence, clinical manifestations, and prognosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome.
In order to obtain more information on the incidence of Guillain-Barré syndrome and recent developments in its prognosis, we analysed the severity and prognosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome in children diagnosed and treated during the years 1980-6 throughout Finland. The criteria for Guillain-Barré syndrome were fulfilled in 14 boys and 13 girls. The mean annual number of cases of Guillain-Barré ...
